Hand-Made Coasters!

I happened to stumble across these coasters on Pinterest today and thought I'd share the link.

Coasters make a great little hand-made gift for neighbors and friends that
you would like to remember on Christmas.

And who doesn't love a hand-made gift?  People know and appreciate a hand-made gift because they come from your heart, and it shows that you took time to make something for them.

The lovely little coasters pictured above are fun, inexpensive and easy to make.

You can purchase 50 of these plain
white coasters in bulk for only $8.48!

All you need are tiles, scrapbook paper, Mod Podge (love this stuff - what doesn't Mod Podge do???), spray acrylic sealer, foam paint brushes, a glue gun and glue sticks, and dots of felt.

The sky is the limit with this one, there are so many scrapbook papers to pick from!

You can find more detailed instructions here at this blog,

If you're looking for a fun craft to make with your kids, why not make
a glow in the dark fairy jar like the ones pictured here?

Sometimes kids have trouble falling asleep and these glow in the

They are fun and inexpensive to make, too!  P.S. They only last about 8 hours.

All you need are four items:  a clean mason jar, paintbrushes,
white school glue (optional), and  glow sticks.

Design a Mug with Sharpies!

Creating original, fun and great coffee mugs with Sharpies is a great way to personalize a simple gift like a coffee mug and give them to friends and family for the holidays.

Follow the instructions in the video below to get some ideas, but use your imagination to create whatever you want with a Sharpie.

Sharpies are permanent markers that come in a large variety of colors.  after using Sharpie markers to decorate your ceramic mug or plate, you can secure the ink to the piece by baking it in the oven. This will keep it from fading and also make it usable to eat or drink from.

So all you do is decorate your mug using Sharpie pens.
Let the ink dry for an hour or so.
Bake the decorated ceramic piece in a regular kitchen oven for 1/2 an hour at 350 degrees.

I recommend placing the piece in the oven, turning the oven on to 350.  Once it reaches 350 degrees, set your timer for 30 minutes.  When the timer goes off, turn the oven off, let the piece cool in the oven.  This will prevent breakage of the piece.  Remember, it still might be hot so use an oven mitt.  Handwash only to keep the colors bright.

Purchase a set or two and personalize for unique gifts to give friends and family

Use a wide variety of Sharpie colors to make your designs bright and cheerful!

You can use a stick on re-usable stencil or a regular stencil to create a knockoff of an mug you can buy at Anthropologie. You can learn more about making the initialed mug pictured below here.

Make the mug pictured above by using the stencils below.  You can be purchase
through Amazon by clicking the pictures...
So easy to make the above dandelion mug.  Follow the directions below and you can make a beautiful one of a kind gift:

Step 1.  Stop at Dollar Tree.
Step 2.  Purchase white ceramic mug.

Step 4.  Copy the picture above onto the mug with Sharpie.
Step 5:  When ink is completely dry, bake in oven (yes, a kitchen oven will be fine) at 350 degrees for 1/2 an hour.  Let piece warm up with the oven and when 1/2 hour baking time is over, turn oven off and leave piece in the oven until it cools down completely.  Do not wash in dishwasher.
